Several road changes were completed for 123 Avenue as part of the Yellowhead Trail Conversion Project.
Changes Implemented
- A new sidewalk along 123 Avenue to support pedestrian traffic
- Intersection modifications for truck turning movements
- New driving lane configuration
- 4 lanes (2 lanes in each direction) from 156 Street to 149 Street
- 2 lanes (1 in each direction) from 149 Street to 142 Street with a third (centre) lane as a 2-way left turn
- Addition of dedicated right-turn lanes at the approaches to the 156 Street intersection
- Removal of on-street parking along the avenue to support roadway changes
- Roadway and sidewalk changes will lead to the removal of some City boulevard trees. The tree removal will be done in accordance with the City’s Tree Management Policy, and the City’s tree reserve will be compensated with the value of the trees removed on the project.

Construction
Road widening and resurfacing was completed in 2021. Overhead sign installations and landscaping was completed in 2022. Landscaping repairs will be completed in spring 2023.
