Project Update - June 2026
Rehabilitation of the 184 Street Bridge over Yellowhead Trail is anticipated to start in August. Rehabilitation of the bridge will ensure a safe and reliable crossing for all users.
A temporary full closure of the bridge will be required to complete the rehabilitation safely. The bridge closure is anticipated to last approximately three months. Construction is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026.
Traffic Impacts
- A temporary full closure of the bridge, including portions of the on and off-ramps will be required.
- Closures are expected to begin in August. Additional information will be shared once construction timelines are confirmed.
- During closures, traffic will be rerouted to alternate routes to cross Yellowhead Trail, including Anthony Henday Drive and 170 Street.
Access
- Yellowhead Trail eastbound will be able to exit onto 184 Street and travel south, while northbound traffic on 184 Street will exit onto Yellowhead Trail eastbound.
- Yellowhead Trail westbound will be able to exit onto 184 Street northbound, while southbound traffic on 184 street will be able to exit onto Yellowhead Trail and travel west.
- Access to businesses and nearby residential properties will be maintained.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction.
- Access to the ETS bus stops will be maintained.
Project Overview
Construction on the 184 Street Bridge over Yellowhead Trail will begin in summer 2026 to extend the bridge’s service life and improve safety for all users.
Rehabilitation of the existing bridge will ensure a safe, reliable crossing for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
The work will include removal and replacement of the surface asphalt, repair of the concrete deck, an upgraded waterproofing system and new asphalt.
A temporary full closure of the bridge, including on and off-ramps, is required to complete this work. The closure is anticipated to last approximately three months. Traffic will be detoured to Anthony Henday Drive and 170 Street for the duration of the project.
