About the Project Area

Modifications will be made to 3 roads running parallel to Yellowhead Trail to support new traffic patterns. Road changes planned for 123 Avenue include:

  • A new sidewalk along 123 Avenue to support pedestrian movements in the area

  • Intersection modifications for truck turning movements with new centre concrete medians

  • 4 lanes (2 lanes in each direction) from 156 Street to 149 Street and 2 lanes (1 in each direction) from 149 Street to 142 Street with a third (centre) lane as a 2-way left turn

  • Addition of 2 dedicated right-turn lanes at the eastbound and westbound approaches to the 156 Street intersection

  • Removal of on-street parking along the avenue to support roadway changes

  • Roadway and sidewalk changes that may impact City boulevard trees - an assessment will be completed prior to final design

  • Removal of the existing out-of-service railway crossing east of 145 Street
