The Fulton Creek Culvert is being replaced to improve drainage at 34 Street. Construction will begin summer 2026 and is expected to be completed fall 2026.
Project Update - Summer 2026
Construction on the Fulton Creek Culvert Replacement project will start the week of August 10 and is scheduled to be completed in early fall.
During construction:
- 34 Street will be closed from Roper Road to 64 Avenue. During this time, there will be no vehicle or pedestrian access on 34 Street from Roper Road to 64 Avenue.
- Vehicle detours will be available along Roper Road, 50 Street and 76 Avenue. Business access will remain available from the north or south along 34 Street.
- In Pylypow Wetlands Park, the western shared pathway to access the parking lot off 34 Street will be closed.
Work will occur Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, with additional weekend and overnight work as required.
Project Overview
The culvert under 34 Street by Fulton Creek has reached the end of its service life after almost 70 years. To maintain proper drainage in the area, it will be replaced.
The stream flow will be diverted around the project area. Crews will demolish and remove the existing culvert, pavement and vegetation. The new culvert will be installed, the road shoulder improved, the road repaved and the landscaped area reseeded.
The culvert will be replaced with a large concrete box-shaped culvert. The replacement will consider future roadway widening.
