On October 11, 2021, the pilot project that permitted alcohol consumption at designated picnic sites concluded. Alcohol consumption in all public parks and picnic spaces is now no longer permitted.

Renewal construction will begin in June with anticipated completion in fall 2021. Access to roads and parking areas in the park will be unavailable during construction to ensure safety. Learn more at Emily Murphy Park Renewal.

Emily Murphy Park is located on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River between Kinsmen Park and Hawrelak Park. The park is named after one of Edmonton's most famous citizens, women's activist Emily Murphy. Park amenities include picnic sites, a playground, boat launch and in the winter a beloved toboggan hill. Another noteworthy feature is the Forest Capital Trail that connects Kinsmen Park to Emily Murphy Park.
