The City of Edmonton swim programs are a great way for your students to have fun with their peers while learning safety in, on and around water. Encourage an active lifestyle and give your class the opportunity to learn important swimming skills while gaining confidence in the water.
Programs Available

Aquatic School Bookings are currently closed. Applications and acceptance open on September 9 at 10am for the 2026-2027 school year.
Instructional School Swim Programs
Availability: May - June
Location: Various recreation centres
Our Instructional School Swim Programs, led by certified instructors, teach students life-saving water skills, improve physical coordination, and build teamwork through fun, educational pool activities.
School-led Recreation Swim Programs
Availability: September - June
Location: Various recreation centres
Book a swimming pool for your class with our School-led Recreation Swim Programs. It's a fantastic, refreshing way to encourage physical fitness, and teachers take the lead on student supervision.
School Water Safety Outreach Program
Availability: September - April
Location: In Person or Virtually
Bring water safety to life! Our interactive Water Safety Outreach Program delivers engaging education directly to your classroom, virtually or in person, teaching students essential skills for staying safe in, on and around water.
Booking a Program
Each program has its own booking process. Select a program type to view booking instructions . Before booking, make sure you:
- Find out if your school meets the Joint Use Agreement requirements
- Read the Conditions for Use, Cancellation Policy and Swimming Pool Rules
- Look at the recreation centres and pools for the selected program to see what facilities are closest to your school

Cancellation Policy
Teachers/schools must notify the aquatic bookings office of a cancellation or change to an existing program booking at least 16 days prior to the school's first booking date.
A no-show or cancellation less than 16 days prior to the booking start date will affect your priority in future booking requests. The full program fee will be charged to the school.
Leisure Centre Private Rental
Book exclusive, one-off access to a leisure centre aquatic facility for your group during non-public swim hours. Please note this is not for recurring school rentals.
