Construction Update - November 2022
Neighbourhood Renewal construction in Garneau Neighbourhood has wrapped up for the 2022 construction season!
2022 construction began in May and was finished in October. The 2022 construction season was a success and we completed all planned construction including:
- Open space improvements in Braithwaite park included an off-leash dog park, concrete walkway, plaza areas, Low Impact Development (LID) work, a seating area and garbage bins
- Street light upgrades: The street lights were upgraded with LED bulbs. Along 84 Avenue from 109 to 111 Street, the decorative black-coated street lights were installed
There are some areas in the 2022 construction area that still require sod and some other landscaping features. Once the weather warms up, typically in early May, the landscape subcontractor will be completing the topsoil and sod placement. By waiting until spring, the sod is more likely to establish.
Neighbourhood renewal work will resume in Garneau in the first week of May 2023, weather permitting. The planned scope for 2023 will include work east of 109 Street from 82 Avenue to north of 87 Avenue. Prior to work resuming, construction notifications will be delivered to impacted residences.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we completed another successful year of neighbourhood renewal construction. Construction in Garneau neighbourhood began in spring 2021 and is expected to take two years (planned completion fall 2023).
Neighbourhood renewal in Garneau Neighbourhood is progressing on time and on budget.
