As one of Edmonton's oldest neighbourhoods and named after Edmonton's first mayor, McCauley is located just north-east of the downtown core. Bordered by adjacent neighbourhoods Boyle Street, Central McDougall, Cromdale, Parkdale, Alberta Avenue and Spruce Avenue, McCauley offers a unique historic and multicultural experience.

McCauley Neighbourhood Vision

“We are proud of McCauley as a vibrant, safe, colourful and diverse neighbourhood. As we plan for its growth, we are guided by principles of sustainability, inclusivity, preservation and beauty. At the same time — with gusto — we embrace ideas of community connectedness and vitality for all those who walk our sidewalks, reside in our homes, work and shop in our businesses and are cared for in our neighbourhood.”

McCauley's Revitalization Goals

  • Celebrating the neighbourhood
  • Building the neighbourhood
  • Providing sustainable housing and service options
  • Improving safety in the neighbourhood

How Revitalization is Collaborating Locally with Residents and Stakeholders

Revitalization works with many partners in McCauley including the McCauley Community League, Safer McCauley, Chinatown BIA, Viva Italia Business District (VIDA), Mile Zero Dance, Edmonton Community Development Company, Italian Youth Association, etc.

Revite partners typically develop initiatives and/or projects that purpose to address key ideas or issues through working with other McCauley partners or City wide ones.

Projects

  • To make Little Italy look even greater Revite teamed up again with VIDA to install and maintain hanging baskets and planters along 95 street which brought extra colour and flourishing to the area.
  • Many McCauley residents like to garden but do not have the space so Revitalization partnered with Mustard Seed to manage a 21 plot garden to the east of the Edmonton Intercultural Centre (EIC) Hub. Residents gardened on their own as well as participated in workshops together.
  • To address safety concerns such as discarded needles or illegally dumped junk in back alleys Revite has joined forces with McCauley Community League and REACH McCauley to form Safer McCauley.
