Financial and Corporate Services provides corporate and business support to the entire organization. This support—just to name a few—includes:

  • Day-to-day accounting and strategic financial analysis
  • Collection of $1.4 billion in municipal property taxes and management of multi-billion-dollar operating and capital budgets
  • Provision of expertise in tendering, IT and HR services
Assessment & Taxation

The Assessment and Taxation branch works to ensure fair and transparent property assessment and taxation that meets provincially legislated standards. This is critical to meeting revenue requirements to fund City programs and services and the Provincial Education Property Tax requisition.

Assessment and Taxation prepares annual market value assessments for all properties, including amended and supplementary assessments. It is responsible for taxation billing, including administration of the Monthly Payment Program.

The Branch administers the assessment and taxation requirements for Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) areas and Business Improvement Areas (BIAs).

Corporate Procurement & Supply Services

Corporate Procurement & Supply Services is the centralized supply chain management and tendering authority for the City of Edmonton. Annually, the Branch manages more than $1 billion of spending on a wide range of goods, services and construction projects, while maintaining over 80,000 inventoried items. 

Financial Services

Financial Services ensures the organization is financially sound, accountable and transparent in managing public funds. These goals are accomplished through sound fiscal policy, strategic financial advice and guidance and the development of effective and efficient processes. This branch also manages the capital and operating budget process for the organization and monitors Edmonton's ever-changing economic environment.

From sensors that monitor air quality to analytics that guide program improvements, the City of Edmonton is ready for the future: providing services, new and existing, in innovative ways. The Open City and Technology Branch leverages the City’s data, business solutions and diverse technologies to increase internal and external data sharing, optimize processes and deliver quality service. To do this work, the Branch embraces the expertise of our larger ecosystem by developing community partnerships to ensure we are using technology and information to provide an exceptional quality of life for Edmontonians.

Real Estate

The Real Estate branch is responsible for providing a strategic and integrated city-wide lens to govern real estate based primarily upon financial sustainability.
