Hybrid Work - Letters of Understanding (LOUs)
The City of Edmonton and ATU 569CUPE 30 and IBEW 1007 have reached mutual agreement to extend Letters of Understanding (LOUs) regarding Hybrid Remote/Office Work. Please refer to your Union LOU for more information.

The new CSU 52 collective agreement includes a LOU on hybrid work.

Mutual agreement has been reached on Letters of Understanding (LOUs) with  IBEW 1007, ATU DATS, CUPE 30, CSU 52, EFFU, ATU 569, SOA and  EPA regarding the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and how it will be recognized in accordance with the terms of the applicable collective agreement.

November 29, 2021
The City of Edmonton have reached mutual agreement on Letter of Understandings (LOUs) with ATU 569, CSU 52 and IBEW 1007 that, subject to eligibility, will enable an Interim Work From Home Arrangement for employees effective until March 31, 2022. This is an interim arrangement that will be in place while the City and ATU 569, CSU 52, IBEW 1007 continue to work towards negotiating a formal remote work program.

We anticipate knowing by December 7 whether CUPE 30 agrees to an extension, as they have some additional internal processes to complete before they are able to confirm.  At that time, we will update CUPE 30 employees as to whether their LOU was extended.

The City of Edmonton and all Unions have reached mutual agreement on a Letter of Understanding (LOU) that, subject to eligibility, will ensure that employees will be compensated for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 according to existing statutory holiday wording in the collective agreements.

April 14, 2021
CUPE 30, CSU 52 and ATU have signed a renewed Temporary Layoff Letter of Understanding (LOU) that extends the City’s ability to retain employees temporarily laid off due to COVID-19 until April 30, 2021. This agreement prevents the permanent layoff of approximately 1600 employees on January 31, 2021.

An updated Letter of Understanding about Temporary Layoffs has been reached between The City of Edmonton (the “City”) and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 30; Civic Service Union 52; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 1007; Edmonton Fire Fighters Union; Amalgamated Transit Union Local 569 and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 569, DATS Unit (collectively, the “Unions”). 

The March 2020 Letter of Understanding about redeployment has expired and was not reviewed as redeployment requirements have slowed. The City and the Unions agreed that there will be no change to the terms of employment for staff currently redeployed.
