Effective June 15, 2020, ACCC will accept cats by appointment (not including trapped/feral cats). Citizens are encouraged to first make attempts to find the animal’s owner before making an appointment for admittance into the ACCC. It is important to note that cats are 10 times more likely to find their way home if left where they’re found. Priority will be given to those animals that are injured, sick or in distress (including pregnant cats and kittens under two months without a mother). An appointment is required and can be made by calling 311 for assistance or visiting ACCC continues to intake stray dogs when an appointment has been made. You must make an appointment to pick up your lost pet or have a lost animal scanned for a microchip.

Reunited with a lost pet.

The streets are a very dangerous place for a dog and someone is missing this family member. Thank you for saving it.

We encourage citizens to make attempts to find the owner of any healthy, lost or stray animal. If the animal has a tag with a licence number on it, 311 may provide the owner’s contact information if the owner has given us permission to release it.

  1. Take the dog for a walk throughout your neighbourhood and ask neighbours if they recognize it. Hanging posters on mailboxes and putting leaflets in doors is also a successful way of tracking down a dog’s owner.
  2. Found pets are often listed on sites like Kijiji and Craigslist, so be sure to  post on those. Social media is a powerful tool for getting your message seen. Post a picture of the dog on Edmonton Lost PetsEdmonton & Area Lost Pets, and Edmonton Lost & Found Pets Facebook pages. They have a large amount of dedicated followers that will watch for lost pet reports. Community social media pages should also be considered.
  3. During business hours, call 311 or you can visit to make an admittance appointment for the dog at the Animal Care and Control Centre.
  4. If it is after business hours, please keep the animal safe until morning or take it to  Guardian Veterinary Centre as they offer 24-hour emergency service and receive lost pets on the City’s behalf.
