Construction Update - April 2026
It’s the third year of Meyokumin Neighbourhood and Alley Renewal and we are scheduled to start the week of April 20. Work will consist of reconstruction and paving of the roads, removal and replacement of public sidewalk, curb, gutter and street lighting.
This year, the majority of construction will take place on 62 Street from Millwoods Road South to 19A Avenue, 19A Avenue from 61 Street to 55 Street, 54 Street from 19 Avenue to Millwoods Road South and 57 Street to 50 Street from 22 Avenue to Millwoods Road South. Please view this scope map to see the 2026 construction area. Work will also happen in the commercial area along 57 Street and parks and on the west side of Meyokumin Park. The final design is available in the What We Decided report.
The contractor working for the City has developed a map to show the progression of work, including scheduled closures.
For those who live in the 2025 construction area (specifically from 57 Street to 65 Street, as well as 56 Street from 19A Avenue to 18 Avenue, and 55 Street from 17A Avenue to 17 Avenue completed in 2025), the remaining landscaping work is scheduled to start at the same time as this year’s construction. Landscaping work is highly dependent on weather and sod availability.
The City of Edmonton and EPCOR are working together to construct Low Impact Development, which will help with stormwater retention and help mitigate flooding.
If you live in the 2026 construction area, please watch your mailbox for construction bulletins that will provide more information along with details on landscaping and access. All residents and business owners are asked to access their homes and businesses through the back entrances and alleys, where possible, during construction. If no alley access is available and/or you have special access requirements (such as DATS or a temporary access ramp to the front of your home), please contact the Construction Project Manager, David Ha, 780-496-4055, to coordinate.
Construction in Meyokumin began in spring 2024 and is expected to take 3 years (planned completion late fall 2026). Neighbourhood renewal in Meyokumin is progressing on time and on budget.
