97 Street from 51 Avenue to 63 Avenue is being renewed. Preliminary design is currently underway, with construction anticipated to begin in 2024.

Project Overview

The City of Edmonton is planning to rehabilitate 97 Street, between 51 Avenue and 63 Avenue, to address deteriorating roads and sidewalks under the City’s Neighbourhood Renewal Program. This project aims to provide Edmontonians with enhanced transportation opportunities and improve road safety for all users of this section of 97 Street.

The proposed upgrades include a shared pathway to replace the existing west sidewalk that will be accessible to all active transportation users. Curb extensions will be added at intersections to improve on-street parking and traffic flow.

The rehabilitation work will also include:

  • Relocating utilities
  • Paving and installing concrete curbs, and gutters
  • Property access modifications
  • Improving pedestrian crossings and street lighting as required.

Stakeholder engagement will begin in the spring of 2023.
