Edmonton’s Residential Parking Program helps manage parking in select neighbourhoods experiencing demand while recognizing curbside space is an asset to be shared.

residential parked cars

  • Residents with 2023 permits should continue to display them in their vehicles. Enforcement will not ticket vehicles that have a 2023 permit.
  • Residents who have recently moved into a neighbourhood with a Residential Parking Program and wish to park on-street can apply for a new Household or Visitor Parking Permit.

Spring 2026 Program Update

Note: There will be no changes to Residential Parking Program areas in 2026.

The City is modernizing its approach to curbside and parking programming, including, but not limited to, the Residential Parking Program. The goal of the redesign work is a program that better reflects community needs while balancing access, livability and the efficient use of curbside space.

Informed by the public engagement process, Administration is scheduled to present a redesigned Residential Parking Program to Council in early 2027. Pending Council approval, implementation would include further neighbourhood-level public engagement. Throughout the process, the City will continue to update residents who reside in RPP areas.

To learn more, you can review the Curbside and Parking Program report.

Permit Types

Household or Visitor Parking Permits

This permit allows residents within a Residential Parking Program area, which are neighbourhoods with signs along the streets stating "Except Residents with Valid Permit", to park their vehicles on the street. In addition to the household permit, residents can request visitor permits to be used for guests or service vehicles providing services to the household or unit.

Those who have lost or misplaced their physical permit can submit a request for a Replacement Permit.

Those who have recently moved into a neighbourhood with a Residential Parking Program and wish to park on-street can apply for a New Household or Visitor Parking Permit.

Each household is allowed a maximum of 2 annual household permits.

Please allow for 10 days to receive your permit after you apply.
