The vision for this park is an inclusive, multi-use green space featuring large, open areas that invite citizens and visitors to reflect and explore.

Located in the Downtown Warehouse District, the Warehouse Park will cover 1.33 hectares (roughly 13,300 square metres or just over 2 football fields) between 106 Street and 108 Street and Jasper Avenue to 102 Avenue.

The downtown population is expected to significantly increase in the next decade. This park will serve as a major public amenity for residents and businesses. The design of 106 Street from Jasper Avenue to 102 Avenue will be integrated into the scope of work for Warehouse Park.

This project is a significant catalyst project identified in the Capital City Downtown Plan, and is fully funded by the Capital City Downtown Community Revitalization Levy.

The park will be integrated into the surrounding roads and laneways and will transform the area as it exists now. This image depicts the different components of Warehouse Park that are planned at this time. It may change as we move through design.

Map Legend

Dark Green: land acquired by the City that will be the site of the future Warehouse Park.

Red: proposed road and laneway closures that will be integrated into the final park design, subject to approval by Council.

Light Green: adjacent roads and laneways that will be integrated into the final park design, but that will remain open to vehicles.

Blue: a concept plan for 106 Street, between 99 Avenue and 104 Avenue, has been developed. The portion of 106 Street between Jasper Avenue and 102 Avenue will be integrated into the scope of the park design to ensure a unified look and feel.

Project Timeline

Concept Phase: 2020-2022

The City is committed to design excellence in all of our projects. The project vision and design parameters identified in the strategy phase will be used to develop the design of the park, and reflect the prominence of the site, and the park’s potential to revitalize downtown.

The City originally proposed a design competition to secure a consultant for this project but changed course due to COVID-19 and the economic downturn. The alternative procurement process for design services is underway.

Strategy Phase: 2017-2020

In June 2019, the project vision, goals and design parameters were presented to the public at an engagement event.

Land Acquisition

In 2017, Council approved the commencement of the expropriation of 4 parcels in the Central Warehouse Area for the park, with an additional parcel subsequently identified for acquisition.

By October 2019, the City secured a total of 1.25 hectares (3 acres) for the park. In October 2020, the City acquired 2 additional parcels of land.
