About the Department

Edmonton’s City Council has two employees, the City Auditor and City Manager.

The City Manager leads more than 12,000 employees who provide a range of services that touch Edmontonians in some way, every day. The City Manager also provides information and advice to support City Council in their role in making decisions and setting policy.

Corporate Culture Office

Formally established in 2010, the Corporate Culture Office is an agent of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) tasked as a central hub to engage employees and leaders in shaping our workplace through culture transformation. The office is dedicated to advancing ELT’s vision for a modern municipal corporation by driving and facilitating culture change across the entire organization.

While the Corporate Culture Office plays a role in driving our culture shift and transformation; it's important to recognize that we all contribute to shaping the City's culture. We are responsible for the culture of our organization.

Office of the City Clerk

The Office of the City Clerk is the primary contact regarding City Council business. The Office manages Council and Committee meetings, quasi-judicial boards, municipal elections, the municipal census and appointments to civic agencies.
It also manages corporate records and oversees Freedom of Information inquiries for the organization.

The City Clerk administers the legislative process for municipal government. The Clerk is responsible for ensuring Council meetings are conducted legally and provides procedural advice during meetings. The City Clerk is also the Returning Officer for municipal elections.
