Early intervention and intervention can be defined in different ways, depending on the nature of the program area. The Grant will help support organizations in their efforts to achieve the following:

There is no maximum amount that can be requested for this grant. However, please be aware that a large number of applications are expected. Applicants are encouraged to consider the amount needed to support the program based on the program budget (eligible expenses and other funding sources).
The Audited Financial Statements that we would want to see are your last approved and signed Audited Financial Statements, in this example, that would be for the year end, December 31, 2022.
Any programs or projects that meet the definition of Early Intervention and Intervention found in the Guide and that are aligned with the CSWB priorities, outcomes, and guiding principles may apply for this grant.
For this grant program, early intervention projects/programs focus on addressing issues at an early stage before more intensive support is required. Primary prevention services are not eligible for this grant.
For this grant program intervention is defined as projects/programs that address immediate needs by providing support or treatment to those already affected by a problem or issue, to stop the issue from worsening. Primary prevention services are not eligible for this grant.
Yes, you are welcome to apply for multiple projects. However, we are expecting a large volume of applications therefore we recommend that you focus on the project that is most aligned with the CSWB priorities, principles and your organizational mandate.
It is important that you familiarize yourself with both Grant Guides and decide which one is better aligned to your project. The Collaboration Grant is primarily focused on strengthening existing or new collaborations that are working on addressing one or more of the Community Safety and Well-Being Pillars.
The Early Intervention and Intervention Grant program is more focused on funding programs that are addressing the specific pillars of Safe and Inclusive Spaces, Pathways In and Out of Poverty, Crime Prevention and Crisis Intervention, and Well-being.
When assessors are reviewing the applications, an application that is submitted to one stream, but is better suited to the other stream, will be re-assigned.
Yes, First Nations communities outside of the boundaries of the city of Edmonton can apply for this funding, so long as the primary (75% or more) focus of their proposed program activities are for urban Indigenous communities in Edmonton. A First Nation could also be a partner for this grant.
Eligible partners for the Early Intervention/Intervention Grant funding can include Edmonton Police Service, First Nations communities not within the boundaries of the city of Edmonton, post-secondary institutes, businesses and others who do not meet the organizational eligibility criteria. There is no requirement for applicants in the Early Intervention/Intervention funding stream to apply as a collaborative or partnership.
Programs that already receive City of Edmonton funding are eligible to apply for the new component/expansion of the work. In your application you should clearly demonstrate how the program/project you are applying for is different from what was previously funded and the impacts of the new component or expansion to the program.
Approved programs must be completed within 2 years of receiving approval. This will be reflected in the Funding Agreement.
