Starting the week of September 15, Route 2 will begin to detour onto 107 Avenue due to the Wellington Bridge being replaced. This work is expected to finish in fall 2026 and will result in the full closure of 102 Avenue between Churchill Crescent and Wellington Crescent.
A temporary On Demand Transit (ODT) zone will be set up and riders will be able to book ODT trips that will take them from an existing Route 2 bus stop on 102 Avenue to either 142 Street or 124 Street. See information sheet for more details.
This temporary ODT service is an extension of the existing Downtown and Jasper Place “Seniors Residences” service, which runs from 7am-7pm on weekdays, and 9am-4pm on weekends and holidays.
Starting June 29, ETS will be removing conventional transit from the following neighbourhoods and replacing it with On Demand Transit:
Routes 109A/B is being rerouted closer to Rapperswill and Albany so the following On Demand Transit stops will be removed within these neighbourhoods:
The following On Demand Transit stops around the perimeter of the neighbourhoods will remain open:
New On Demand Transit stops will be added to Aster (12 Street and Aster Boulevard), Celebration Church, Christcity Church, West Meadows Baptist Church and the Edmonton Association of the Deaf.
As part of the Baturyn Neighborhood and Alley Renewal Project, crews will be reconstructing the main corridor of 100 Street, 172 Avenue and 109 Street. Construction is anticipated to begin on April 27 and will last until the end of October 2025.
During this time, ETS will not be able to get traditional buses into this neighbourhood so an On Demand Transit area will be added to the northern part of Baturyn.
Starting April 27, the neighbourhoods of Keswick and Glenridding will be moving to a hybrid transit model that uses both conventional and On Demand Transit service. Route 729, a brand new route, will provide weekday service to the Keswick and Glenridding neighbourhoods and give riders more consistent connection to Leger and Century Park transit centres.
Route 729 will operate during morning peak, midday, afternoon peak and evenings, Monday to Friday. Frequency of service will be every 20 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during the midday and evenings.
On Demand Transit service will continue to be available in both neighbourhoods on Saturdays and Sundays. ETS will continue to provide residents living in the Keswick on the River community On Demand Transit service through the full week.
On Demand Transit service will be added to Industrial Heights and Rampart Industrial.
On Demand Transit service is also being added to the Stewart Greens neighbourhood with Lewis Farms Transit Centre as the hub.
A new additional hub is being added to the Downtown Seniors Zone at 116 Street and 105 Avenue and will replace the hub at Jasper Avenue and 116 Street to help connect riders with both Routes 7 and 902.
On Demand Transit will no longer be available in the Klarvatten and Schonsee neighbourhoods. Route 122 is being rerouted to better serve the higher-density residential and commercial areas along 167 Avenue and 82 Street.
Additional stops have been added - northbound, eastbound and southbound - at 111 Street and Blackburn Drive SW for the Blackburne and Blackmud Creek neighbourhoods.
If you want to plan a trip that includes a connection between On Demand Transit and the regular transit network, the third-party Transit app will provide options.
Note: you will still need the Edmonton On Demand Transit app to book the On Demand Transit portion of your trip.
On Demand Transit telephones are available at some transit centres and LRT stations to book a return trip.
Please note: When riders book a trip, they will be provided a couple of trip options. Once their request to book a trip is received, they can expect to wait up to 30 minutes to be picked up. They will also be given time to meet the shuttle at a designated location.
You do not pay a fare when you board an On Demand Transit vehicle. Instead, you pay a standard fare when you transfer between On Demand Transit and regular service at a transit hub.
Accounts will be reviewed based on:
When an account is under review we will first contact the rider to get a better understanding of the situation, provide trip planning tips as required, and issue a warning.
If the issue continues, Edmonton Transit may suspend the account.
If you can’t make a trip, make sure you cancel at least 20 minutes prior to boarding versus keeping the trip and not showing up. Consider booking your trip when you are close to the On Demand Transit pick up location.
Your compliments or concerns can be reported directly to the On Demand Transit contractor (PWTransit Canada) by contacting them through the app, or by phoning the call centre at 780-496-2400.
Every shuttle is assigned to pick up riders in a specific order. To maintain estimated arrival times, drivers will follow instructions provided to them by the On Demand Transit software.
Yes, provided that food and beverages are in containers designed for travel and under the control of the rider.
