Description/Purpose

Founded in 1959, GEF Seniors Housing is the largest not-for-profit seniors housing organization in Alberta, which provides safe, affordable and secure homes to approximately 3,800 seniors. With the help of their employees, volunteers, private and corporate donors, GEF Seniors Housing makes a difference in the community.

GEF Seniors Housing is recognized as one of the Best Employers in Canada as rated by their own employees. GEF lodges are 100% compliant with the Alberta Government Supportive Living Lodge Accommodation Standards and all buildings are certified through the Edmonton Police Service Crime Free Multi-Housing Program.

GEF Seniors Housing (formerly Greater Edmonton Foundation) was established by Ministerial Order No. H:158/95 under the Alberta Housing Act. The City of Edmonton appoints board members.

Meetings

  • 6 to 9 Board meetings per year on the last Thursday of the respective month, early evening; 3-4 hours long
  • Committee meetings vary from 1-3 hours long
