On March 5, 2024, City Council approved the 2024-25 Edmonton Design Committee work plan, which includes reviewing the EDC Standards and Procedures, the EDC Principles of Urban Design, and the scope of EDC review.
Industry previously identified the need to review both the current Principles of Urban Design and the scope of EDC review (as defined in EDC Bylaw 20673). The 2024-25 work plan therefore focuses on these items while delivering on the Committee’s commitment to review and update the EDC Standards and Procedures, which came into effect on February 15, 2022.
The initial engagement phase of the project is now closed, and City administration has prepared a What We Heard Report summarizing input from the design and development industry.
Over the summer, City administration and the EDC will also be preparing draft deliverables, which are anticipated to be ready for review in early fall 2024, with the goal of completing this work by April 30, 2025, to correspond with the end of the EDC term.
