The City of Edmonton is transitioning from the Red Cross Learn to Swim program to the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program. This transition follows Red Cross discontinuing their water safety programming to focus on various other humanitarian priorities.
The Lifesaving Society has worked with Canadians to promote water safety for over 100 years and have a long history working with the City of Edmonton to deliver lifesaving and lifeguarding courses.
The Swim for Life program has been around for 20 years and is a nationally recognized learn to swim program, created as a result of extensive research and testing. Swim for Life offers swimming skills and education for people of all ages and abilities.
As we transition to the Swim for Life program, and with winter registration fast approaching, please use this
to determine the appropriate level in which to register.Winter Registration opens on December 6 at 8:30am for members and December 7 at 8:30am for non-members.
The former Red Cross level as well as the new Swim for Life equivalent will listed on MoveLearnPlay for ease of use, when winter programs are viewable on November 22.
