Project Update - February 2019

Get involved in the Grandview Heights Neighbourhood Renewal!

Public engagement is a key part of the Neighbourhood Renewal process. We ask you to get involved, share your thoughts and help shape the future of your community.

At the Vision Confirmation and Community Options event on February 21, 2019, we explored opportunities around community green spaces and parks, connectivity and corridors, placemaking (creating public spaces that promote health, happiness and well-being) and how you move around your neighbourhood. Input gathered will be used to refine the vision and guiding principles and further explore areas of opportunity for Grandview Heights. If you were unable to attend, please view the event materials.

Additional information about the Grandview Heights Neighbourhood Renewal can be found in the February 2019 Project Overview

About the Project

Grandview Heights has been chosen for reconstruction beginning in spring 2020 with completion expected for 2021.

Neighbourhood reconstruction is a type of neighbourhood renewal that involves road reconstruction and repaving, as well as replacement of streetlights and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter. Alley renewal is not part of neighbourhood reconstruction. It also includes the opportunity for two local improvements, sidewalk renewal and decorative streetlights.

A series of public events will be scheduled by the project team which will give residents the opportunity to build a project vision and guiding principles together and provide regular feedback on the different stages of the project including design.

Project History

Community Walk, Vision and Guiding Principles Workshop - December 2018

The City hosted a Community Walk, Vision and Guiding Principles Workshop on December 5. During the walk, participants explored topics like traffic, connectivity, neighbourhood open/park space and place making (creating public spaces that promote health, happiness, and well-being). Following the community walk, the Vision and Guiding Principles workshop allowed for the sharing of ideas and feedback on the Neighbourhood Renewal project.
