Project Update - March 2026

Repairs to address some aesthetic deficiencies and accessibility improvements are underway on the pavilion. Visitors may notice missing panels and construction on the south and east sides of the building. This work does not impact access to the pavilion building or washrooms. Inside the pavilion, construction is underway to improve accessibility. The washrooms remain open, but the work may be disruptive. The project team thanks park users for their patience.

Alleyway and Road Renewal Work

Alleyway and road renewal work is required adjacent to O’day min Park to improve connectivity, upgrade infrastructure and improve access for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles in the area. To help maintain access to O’Day min Park, nearby businesses and the surrounding area, construction will be completed in six phases, with Stage 1 beginning as early as April 13. Pedestrian access to O’day min Park and surrounding businesses will be maintained throughout construction, though routes may change as work progresses.

Park Access

As construction on the surrounding roadway and alleys continues in 2026, there are designated public entrances into the park. The map below shows where people can safely access the park during the different construction stages.

Construction Stages

Stage 1: April - July

Starting as early as April 13, construction will begin on a new storm line utility and a new alley north of the park (see the Construction Stages Map). The new paving stone alley will link 106 Street and 107 Street. Stage 1 also includes a new pedestrian walk with low-impact development (LID) soil cells and streetscape features, including decorative lighting trees and planters, along the east side of 106 Street south of 102 Avenue to the new alley.

Traffic and Access Impacts:

106 Street will be closed south of 102 Avenue to the alley north of Jasper Avenue.
Park access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists, and the parking lot on the east side of 106 Street will remain available.

Stage 2: June - July

Construction will be on the north side of 107 Street between O’day min Park and 102 Avenue. Stage 2 includes new sidewalks, roadway improvements and streetscape features, such as decorative lighting poles, trees and planters.

Access Impacts:

Pedestrian and business access will be maintained.

Stage 3: June - July

Crews will complete a new alley paving stone north of O’day min Park, between Khazana and the Alberta Craft Council building, just south of 102 Avenue.

Stage 4: July - August

New paving stones will be installed in the alleyway connecting 106 Street to 107 Street on O’day min Park’s southern border. Work will occur on 107 Street.

Access to the parking lots will be maintained.

Stage 5: September - October

New paving stones will be installed in the alleyway connecting 106 Street to 107 Street on O’day min Park’s southern border. Work will occur on 107 Street.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

Stage 6: 2027 (To Be Confirmed)

Work will include the installation of low-impact development soil cells (LID) to improve drainage, new sidewalks and additional streetscaping features like decorative lighting and landscaping on 106 Street between Jasper Avenue and the centre of O’day min Park. Construction timelines will be confirmed closer to 2027.

Access Impacts:

Pedestrian access along 106 Street will be maintained.

Project Overview

The Warehouse Park will cover 1.81 hectares (6.106 acres or around 4 and a half NFL football fields) between 106 Street and 108 Street and Jasper Avenue to 102 Avenue.

The vision for this park is an urban oasis and an inclusive, multi-use green space featuring large, open areas that invite citizens and visitors to reflect and explore. This park will serve as a major public amenity for downtown residents, workers and visitors as the downtown population is expected to significantly increase in the next decade. The design of 106 Street from Jasper Avenue to 102 Avenue will be integrated into the scope of work for Warehouse Park.

This project is an important catalyst project identified in the Capital City Downtown Plan, and is to be funded by the Capital City Downtown Community Revitalization Levy.

Park Design

The intention of this project is to create a timeless park with green open space which can be used year-round. Connections to the park and integration with the surrounding area will create a prioritized pedestrian experience.

Park visitors can make the most of the summer weather on the centre lawn. In other seasons, the park’s beautiful lighting, warming areas and community-level event spaces will encourage people to spend time outdoors.

At the centre of the park is a large, open lawn with a hill. The Northern Lights lighting feature encircles the space.

At the west end of the park is a space with fireplaces and seating on a picnic blanket design. The pavilion sits just beyond the space.

Features

Design features include a green lawn with a hill that can be used for tobogganing in the winter, an off-leash dog park, a basketball court, an exercise area, a playground and a gathering space with fire pits and seating outside the pavilion. The pavilion will have washroom facilities and space for the community to rent for events.

The pavilion will house washrooms and rental space for the community.

The space is designed to be used year-round. In the winter, the hill next to the open lawn can be used for tobogganing.

An informal basketball court for casual pick up games is part of the design.

Park visitors will be able to use outdoor exercise equipment (Final equipment design to be determined).

An off-leash dog park will provide a space for visitors’ furry friends.

107 Street Promenade

The existing 107 Street will become part of the park, forming a pedestrian promenade. It will be wide enough to support different types of community events.

2025

Project Update - November 2025

2025 construction of the Warehouse Park Project is now complete. Officially named O-day'min Park, the park and pavilion are now open for community use.

One of the Warehouse Park Project goals is to be a catalyst for change and development in Downtown Edmonton. Even before completion, the project is achieving that goal.

One apartment tower next to the park has been completed and applications to develop additional land next to the project site are advancing faster than expected. There are currently six projects in various stages of planning.

By November 2026, a total of 1,604 units are expected to be complete or under construction.

To facilitate these developments, the City is collaborating with developers and utility providers to coordinate utility connections for the projects in the vicinity of the park.

The work on 106 Street, the perimeter alleyways north, south and west of the park and the sections of 107 Street next to the park are being coordinated with these developments to avoid rework in the area. Construction of these areas will continue through 2026.

Project Update - May 2025

Construction of the park started again in early May. The park and pavilion are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Completion of utility servicing is in progress. Preparation for the hard surface elements of the project, which include walkways, paving stone plazas and asphalt installation for the basketball court area is also underway.

The remaining park scope, which includes the off-leash dog park, natural playground, Northern Lights feature, site furniture, wayfinding signage and extensive soft landscaping is currently in progress. Construction on those elements will begin this summer.

Pavilion construction continued through the winter. The pavilion structure is near completion. The final stage is the interior finishes, which will take place this summer/fall of 2025.

Renewal of 106 Street from Jasper Avenue to 102 Avenue, the remainder of 107 Street from Jasper Avenue and 102 Avenue to the park limits and the perimeter park laneways will begin this summer. 106 Street between Jasper Avenue and 102 Avenue will be closed during construction.

2024

Project Update - December 2024

As we approach the end of the 2024 construction season, we would like to highlight the construction work completed to date on the Warehouse Park Project.

Earthwork, including all surface removals, excavation and fill requirements, have been ongoing since construction started in July. The majority of electrical and drainage work is complete, along with the installation of the Low Impact Development drainage infrastructure.

Underground structural work for the pavilion is complete. Piling for the park lights and northern lights feature is also near completion. Both scopes of work will continue to advance through the winter.

The remaining park scope will be completed in the 2025 construction season, with the park and pavilion anticipated to be open to the public by the end of 2025.

Project Update - July 2024

Construction on the Warehouse Park Project began in early July.

As part of the project, 107 Street just north of Jasper Avenue and just south of 102 Avenue has been permanently closed to traffic. Pedestrian, vehicle and active transportation traffic is encouraged to use 106 Street as an alternate route.

Year one of construction will include demolition and removal of existing infrastructure, installing the necessary utility servicing and advancing work on the pavilion.

Construction on the Warehouse Park Project is planned to take two years. The park is scheduled to open to the public by the end of 2025.

Project Update - February 2024

Preliminary design for Warehouse Park is now complete and construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2024.

The design development for the Warehouse Park pavilion has been finalized. This pavilion will include facilities for public restrooms and a multipurpose space serving as a central feature within the park.

2021

The City acquired additional land parcels which, together, comprise the location of the former Doan's restaurant on 107 Street. This land has been included in the updated site plan. The City will demolish the existing building in order to prepare the site for park development.

In December, the City awarded the contract for the Warehouse Park project to the following internationally recognized Canadian companies:

2020

Concept phase. The project vision and design parameters identified in the strategy phase are used to develop the design of the park, and reflect the prominence of the site, and the park’s potential to revitalize downtown.

The City acquired 2 additional parcels of land.

A design competition originally proposed to secure a consultant for this project was cancelled due to COVID-19. The alternative procurement process for design services was started.

2019

In June 2019, the project vision, goals and design parameters were presented to the public at an engagement event.

2017

Strategy Phase. In 2017, Council approved the commencement of the expropriation of 4 parcels in the Central Warehouse Area for the park, with an additional parcel subsequently identified for acquisition.
