The Community League Operating Grant provides funding assistance to community leagues in the City of Edmonton. The funding enables leagues to be in a better position to meet operating requirements, support the specific needs in their neighbourhoods, improve collaboration with other organizations and deliver effective and efficient programs and services.

Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the 2021 Community League Operating Grant is Wednesday April 28, 2021.

Applications received after this deadline may not be processed.

Do you know your Grant Account ID?

With our online grant applications, you will need two pieces of information to apply to any grant program:

  1. Your City of Edmonton grants assigned account ID
  2. Your organization or applicant email that is registered with the City of Edmonton Grants Office

To create or retrieve your City of Edmonton account ID:

  • Fill out the Account ID Request Form and a city employee will get back to you within 2 business days with your account information

Need to update your account information?

Once you enter your Account ID and Organization email, your account information will automatically populate on the application. If you noticed that your information is not correct in our system (for example, an address change or main contact change), please contact our office as soon as possible to update your account. Incorrect information can result in a delay or inability to process your grant request.

To update your account:


Grant awards are calculated by allocating a base amount to each league and a per capita amount for the population using the most recent neighbourhood Census data.

Applicants must meet all of the terms and conditions as set out in Policy C502A including:

  • Be a registered not-for-profit society
  • Provide community-based programs and services to residents
  • Optimize the use of their facility by allowing other not-for-profit, multicultural, and indigenous groups to use the facility for activities that align with the terms of the Tripartite License Agreement
  • Be a member of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues in good standing
  • Be in good financial and legal standing with the City of Edmonton
  • Signed the most current Tripartite License Agreement (if applicable)
  • Outstanding final reports from the Community League Infrastructure Program grant need to be submitted in order to receive a Community League Operating Grant

Leagues applying for this grant do not qualify for any other operating grant from the City of Edmonton.

Required Documents

The following documents must be attached to your online application:

  • Most current list of Board of Directors, with names and positions
  • Minutes of annual general meeting (AGM) at which the most recent financial statements were presented. (If you are unable to hold an AGM due to current restrictions on gatherings, instead please include a letter to that effect instead.)
  • Most recent annual return filed with Alberta Corporate Registry
  • Amended bylaws filed and stamped by Alberta Corporate Registry (include only if the bylaws have been amended in your organization’s last fiscal year)
  • Financial Statements for the most recent fiscal year ending, which must be:
    • Signed by 2 Board of Directors with signing authority
    • Reviewed internally or externally and presented at an AGM as required in the organization’s bylaws
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Form

If your community league hasn't set up Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) with the City of Edmonton or EFT information requires updating, please also complete the EFT Information Form and send it to the email address at the bottom of the form.
