If you are a property owner undertaking, or allowing the undertaking, of any servicing, testing, repairing, maintaining, adjusting, altering or installing a Fire Alarm system that might trigger an Unwanted Alarm, the Edmonton Fire Drill Line must be notified at 780-414-7332 before work begins.
Property owners hold responsibility for ensuring this notification occurs. It is recommended that this notification occur 15-30 minutes prior to any work occurring.
Fire Alarm System Responsibilities
If an Alarm Business is responsible for a Fire Alarm System, please follow these notification steps before testing or performing work which might activate an Unwanted Alarm:
- Property Owner: Notify the City and your Alarm Business before any work or testing begins
- Alarm Business: Once notified by the property owner, contact the City directly via the Fire Drill Line at 780-414-7332
Notifying Tenants in Multi-Unit Residences
If you are running a fire drill in a multi-unit residence, please consider notifying residents in advance so they know not to call 9-1-1 regarding the fire drill. These calls for non-emergency events can add unnecessary pressure to our Emergency Communications Services.
