Get Ready in the Park is a free, informative and interactive event hosted annually in May by the City of Edmonton's Office of Emergency Management in recognition of Canada's Emergency Preparedness Week

The event is fun for the whole family and highlights the work of the regional emergency response community.

Date: Saturday May 9, 2026 
Time: 10am-3pm
Location: Edmonton EXPO Centre Grounds (South of the EXPO Centre)

Event Activities

Local emergency responders, along with approximately 50 groups from Edmonton’s emergency response community, will be on-site.

  • Learn how to prepare for a variety of emergencies
  • Meet and talk with emergency responders from the Edmonton and metro region
  • Learn how emergency responders work together on the frontlines during an emergency
  • See the inside of a fire truck and other emergency vehicles
  • Have lunch at one of the on-site food trucks

  • Parking is restricted in Borden Park
  • Limited paid parking is available at the Edmonton EXPO Centre

Take ETS

Free shuttle service will run between Coliseum Transit Centre (Bus Stop #1206 - Bay G) and the south gate of the EXPO Centre (north side of Borden Park Road and 75 Street). The first shuttle leaves the EXPO Centre grounds at 10am and the last shuttle leaves at 3:46pm.

Please note: shuttle times are subject to traffic and weather conditions. Parking is restricted near Borden Park but paid parking is available at the Edmonton EXPO Centre.

If you’re looking to take regular ETS service to Edmonton EXPO Centre grounds, you can also take Route 101 or the Capital Line train to Coliseum Station, which is a short walk away.
