Each year, the City of Edmonton’s Office of Emergency Management organizes Get Ready in the Park during Emergency Preparedness Week. This event is a free, informative and interactive event that is fun for the whole family.

The 11th annual Get Ready in the Park is on Saturday May 12 from 10am-3pm at Hawrelak Park. This year’s theme is “Be Emergency Ready.”

At the event, you can learn and experience how emergency equipment and vehicles help Edmonton and Metro Region responders do their job. This is a perfect opportunity for kids (or kids at heart) to get behind the wheel of a fire truck or peek inside other emergency vehicles.

Local emergency responders will also be on-site to provide personal preparedness suggestions, tips and ideas that will help you prepare for many types of emergencies.

The event also covers hunger emergencies, as there will be a variety of Edmonton food trucks on site.

Look at the Get Ready in the Park Photo Gallery from previous years to see what kind of fun we had.
