Route 522 On Demand Service Replacement Sessions

As a part of the June 2026 service changes ETS will replace conventional transit (Route 522) with On Demand Transit (ODT) in the Capilano and Gold Bar neighbourhoods. A virtual information session will be held on Tuesday, June 16, from 10-11am.

LRT Service Alerts

Metro Line - May 30 and 31

On May 30 and 31, Metro Line trains will only run between NAIT/Blatchford Market and Government Centre LRT Stations to allow for track work near University Station.

Capital Line trains will run regular service during this time. To access stations south of Government Centre, Metro Line riders can transfer to a Capital Line train at Churchill, Bay/Enterprise Square, Corona or Government Centre stations.

Capital Line - June 25-29

From June 25 to June 29, the Capital Line trains will not be running between South Campus - Fort Edmonton Park and Century Park LRT stations to allow for track work near Southgate Station.

LRT replacement buses will run between South Campus - Fort Edmonton Park and Century Park Stations for the entire duration of LRT service on June 25-28.

Regular LRT service along the Capital Line will resume at the start of service on June 29.

Capital Line - June 27

From 9 pm until the end of service on June 27, Capital Line trains will not be running between Government Centre and Century Park LRT Stations to allow for communication line repairs.

LRT replacement buses will run between Government Centre and Century Park stations until the start of service on June 28.

Bus Stop Closures

Temporary Closures

Bus Stop #99013

Starting July 22, Bus Stop #99013 (Heritage Valley Trail & Chappelle Road southwest) will be temporarily closed until summer 2026.

This is due to work being done to widen the road on the east side of Heritage Valley Trail from 41 Avenue southwest to 141 Street southwest.

Riders can catch Route 727 at one of the temporary stops:

Bus stop #99025 (Chappelle Road & Charles Link eastbound)
Bus Stop #99077 (Desrochers Road & Heritage Valley Trail eastbound)

Bus Stop #2206

Starting June 24 at 10 pm, Bus Stop #2206 (Bay F at Southgate Transit Centre) will be temporarily closed until June 29.

This is due to work being done to replace the track crossing at 51 Avenue.

Riders can catch Route 9-Owl southbound and the Century Park LRT Replacement bus at the temporary stop, located southbound on 111 Street near the west LRT entrance stairs and elevator.

General Detours

Routes 1A/B

Work is underway to rehabilitate Dawson Bridge on Rowland Road in the Riverdale neighbourhood. During select weekends in May and June, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic.

Planned weekend closures:
- Friday, June 19 (7pm) to Monday, June 22 (5am)
- Friday, June 26 (7pm) to Monday, June 29 (5am)
Planned overnight closures:
- Friday, May 29 (8pm) to Saturday, May 30 (7am)
- Friday, June 12 (8pm) to Saturday, June 13 (7am)

During periods when Dawson Bridge is closed, Route 1A/B will be on detour via Jasper Avenue, 82 Street, 112 Avenue and Wayne Gretzky Drive. On Demand Transit Service in Riverdale will not be impacted by this work.

A courtesy taxi service will be in place between the Riverdale On Demand Transit bus stops and the transit hubs at City Centre Mall and Churchill Square when the bridge is closed and it is outside the operating hours of On Demand Transit. Riders can book a courtesy taxi by calling Greater Edmonton Taxi Service at 780-462-3456.

Route 514

Starting April 27, Route 514 will be on detour while construction takes place on 62 Street northwest from 18 Avenue to Mill Woods Road South. This work is expected to take 2-3 weeks to complete.

During this time, the following stops will be closed:

#3129 - 57 Street and 23 Avenue southbound
#3088 - 19A Avenue and 57 Street westbound
#3086 - 19A Avenue and 61 Street southbound
#3084 - 62 Street and 18 Avenue southbound

Riders can catch Route 514 at any of the following temporary stops:

#3082 - 62 Street and Mill Woods Road southbound
#3087 - 23 Avenue and 58 Street westbound

Route 107 and 117

Starting May 11, Routes 107 and 117 will be on detour until June 1 due to road work on Ebbers Boulevard between 144 Avenue and 153 Avenue. During this time, these routes will detour on Manning Drive.

The following bus stops will be closed during this work:

#77196 - Ebbers Boulevard and 153 Avenue southbound
#77821 - Ebbers Boulevard and 153 Avenue northbound
#77615 - Ebbers Boulevard and 153 Avenue northbound

Route 504

Starting April 27, Route 504 will be on detour until the end of the month due to road work at 72 Avenue NW between 71 Street and 68 Avenue. During this time, Route 504 will detour using 67 Street northbound. Work is expected to wrap up in mid-August.

Routes 55 and 706

Starting June 24 at 10 pm, Routes 55 and 706 will be on detour until June 29. This is due to LRT track replacement work at the 51 Avenue crossing. During this time, the following stops will be closed:

#2507 - 51 Avenue and 112 Street westbound
#2506 - 51 Avenue and 114a Street westbound
#2980 - 51 Avenue and 115 Street westbound
#2933 - 51 Avenue and 116 Street westbound
#22241 - 51 Avenue and 117 Street westbound
#2511 - 122 Street and 51 Avenue southbound
#2984 - 122 Street and 48 Avenue southbound

Routes 727 and 668

Starting April 20, Routes 727 and 668 will be on detour until the end of June due to road work just east of the intersection of Heritage Valley Trail & Desrochers Boulevard. During this time, these routes will detour using 41 Avenue, between Desrochers Drive and Heritage Valley Trail.

The following bus stops will be closed during this time:

#99009 - Desrochers Boulevard and Duke Crescent westbound
#99010 - Desrochers Boulevard and Duke Crescent eastbound
#99076 - Desrochers Boulevard and Dixon Landing northbound
#99077 - Heritage Valley Trail and Desrochers Boulevard southbound
#99505 - Heritage Valley Trail and 141 Street southbound

Riders can use the following alternate stops:

#99207 - Desrochers Drive and Desrochers Boulevard northbound

Route 2 - Glenora

Starting the week of September 15, work will begin to replace the Wellington Bridge on 102 Avenue between 132 Street and 130 Street in the Glenora neighbourhood. This project is expected to take approximately 16 months and will result in the full closure of 102 Avenue.

While 102 Avenue is completely closed, Route 2 will be on detour via 124 Street, 107 Avenue, and 142 Street, serving all stops along its detour route. Riders can access transit on 124 Street or 142 Street or use temporary On Demand Transit service to either of these corridors from select bus stops along 102 Avenue.

Dedicated Accessible Transit Service (DATS) clients in Glenora will still be able to access door to door service.

Routes 51, 103, 106 and 618 - 132 Avenue Renewal

Renewal work on 132 Avenue continues in 2026. This year, the majority of construction will take place in two separate construction areas: from 127 Street to 121 Street (West) and from 90 Street to Delwood Road (East).

Construction on both sections is scheduled to begin the week of April 20 and run until late fall 2026.

132 Avenue West Detours
Routes 51, 103 (Eaux Claires weekday AM peak only), 106 and 618

Routes 51 and 106 will detour along 134 Avenue/135 Avenue between 127 Street and 113A Street.
Route 103 Eaux Claires weekday trips departing Kingsway TC between 5:27am and 8:22am will operate via 132 Street and 135 Avenue. Bus Stops #6487 (127 Street and 132 Avenue northbound) and #6251 (127 Street & 134 Avenue northbound) will be missed during this time period only.
Route 618 will detour along 132 Street and 135 Avenue.

132 Avenue East Detours
Routes 106, 610, 612, 613, 614, 624, 625 and 626

Routes 106, 610, 612, and 626 will detour along 135 / 134 Avenue between 90 Street and 82 Street.
Routes 613, 624, and 625 will detour along 132 Avenue between 97 Street and 90 Street.
Route 614 will detour on 135 Avenue and 90 Street between 132 Avenue and 97 Street.

Route 512 Detour

Starting May 21, Route 512 will be on detour until early July due to road work on 28 Avenue NW between 91 Street and 92 Street. During this time, Route 512 will detour using 91 Street southbound.

Route 713

Starting May 24, Route 713 will be on detour until early August due to road work on 12 Avenue.

The following bus stops will be closed during this work:

#4535 - Twin Brooks Drive and 12 Avenue (westbound)
#4348 - 111 Street and 12 Avenue (westbound)

Routes 716, 717, 718 and 729

Construction on Stage 3 of the Terwillegar Drive Expansion Project began in early May and is expected to take approximately two years. These improvements will support current and future traffic, transit and active transportation needs.

During construction, transit users should expect congestion and longer commute times. In recent days, the City has worked with the contractor to ensure additional measures (like longer working hours) have been taken to reduce traffic disruptions as much as possible. ETS will continue to monitor traffic flow but there will be no detours at this time.

Route 924 - Glenwood Neighbourhood Renewal

Due to community feedback, Route 924 is currently detoured back to 165 Street until an official start date of the Glenwood Neighbourhood Renewal is announced.

LRT Replacement Service

When the LRT is experiencing difficulties due to unforeseen circumstances and may be unable to provide service to every stop, ETS provides replacement service with buses to ensure riders are still able to reach their destination.

The following information is meant to assist passengers when using LRT replacement service. Replacement service often takes the same routes, but accidents, detours and other obstacles may cause the Bus Replacement Service routes to change.

When searching for the correct stop to wait at when replacement service is in place, look for the bus stop signs that list "LRT Replacement".

The buses will also say LRT Replacement Service, followed by the final destination (such as Century Park, Downtown, Clareview, NAIT).

ETS Cold Weather Response

ETS Cold Weather service comes into effect when commuters are faced with extreme winter weather. We define extreme weather conditions as -20 Celsius including windchill.

When temperatures reach -20 celsius, ETS buses no longer kneel to prevent buses from freezing in the kneeling position, thus putting the bus out of service and requiring a replacement bus.

Cold Weather Express Bus Service

ETS Express buses, except for routes 31, 130X, 560, 700X, 747, 900X, 920X are instructed to stop for riders at all bus stops on their routes in extreme weather conditions (colder than minus 20 degrees Celsius, including windchill).

The decision to stop at all bus stops is made by the ETS Control Centre on an ‘as required’ basis.

Please dress for the weather, as buses are part of the traffic flow and are affected by road and weather conditions too.
