The Edmonton Valley Zoo has partnered with KultureCity® to enhance our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience for all guests during all events.
We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing needs by supplying our staff with annual training and by offering the resources and accommodations below to our guests.
Sensory Needs Resources and Accommodations
KultureCity® Sensory Bags
KultureCity® Sensory bags containing special Knowledge Channel Volunteer and Internship Program (KCVIP) badges, feeling thermometer, fidget tools and noise-cancelling headphones are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at Guest Services located in the Entry Plaza.
Weighted Lap Pads
Weighted lap pads are available upon request (at no cost by leaving an ID) at Guest Services located in the Entry Plaza.
Quiet Areas
Quiet areas are located in the Birds of Prey Exhibit and Picnic Island.
Headphone Zones
Headphone zones (loud areas) are located at Urban Farm, Makira Outpost and Saito Centre.

Edmonton Valley Zoo Social Narratives
Social Narratives are in-depth resource guides for individuals with cognitive and sensory disabilities and are useful as pre-visit guides to the 5 different zones within the Edmonton Valley Zoo. The social narratives highlight what visitors may encounter while touring the Zoo.
