As part of the City of Edmonton’s commitment to offering the highest quality facilities and amenities, scheduled maintenance is required to inspect and care for our facilities.
The facilities listed below are currently closed, partially closed or soon to be closed for regular maintenance.
ACT Aquatic and Recreation Centre
The ACT Aquatic Centre will be closed from March 2 to May 1, 2026. All areas of the Aquatic side will be closed. The rest of the facility remains open. The Aquatic area will re-open on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
As part of the City of Edmonton’s commitment to offering the highest quality facilities and amenities, this Aquatic shutdown is required to complete repairs and ensure the facility is safe to reopen.
Maintenance and Inspection
Maintenance
The work includes maintenance to mechanical, electrical and structural systems, including:
- Draining pools and deep cleaning basins
- Grout and tile repairs
- Overhead light replacements/upgrades
- Painting
- Air handling and vent cleaning
Inspection
Inspection and servicing of pool mechanical systems such as:
- Anti-entrapment drains
- Filtration
- Disinfection and circulation pumps, as well as filter tank coatings and filter media replacement
Confederation Leisure Centre
The Aquatic Centre at Confederation Leisure Centre will be closed from March 23 to May 22, 2026. The arena will remain open.
Work includes maintenance of mechanical, electrical and structural systems, including draining pools and deep cleaning basins, grout and tile repairs, overhead light replacements/upgrades, painting, air handling and vent cleaning, inspection and servicing of pool mechanical systems such as anti-entrapment drains, steam room elements, filtration, disinfection, and circulation pumps, as well as filter tank coatings and filter media replacement. Amenity upgrades/repairs include the installation of a new water slide in the dive tank, glass wall replacement in the steam room and flooring repairs to the locker room entrance way.
Kinsmen Field House Closure
The Field House at Kinsmen Sports Centre is closed from April 13, 2026 to summer/fall 2027 for necessary rehabilitation. This Kinsmen Field House rehabilitation is fully funded and will deliver significant improvements, including artificial turf installation on the centre courts, installation of a five-lane synthetic competitive lower running track, an expanded and reimagined Functional Training Centre (FTC) and more. These enhancements reflect our commitment to creating a modern, high-performing sport and serious individual fitness environment for all users.
