Rundle IceWay and Shinny Ice Surface

Address: 2909 113 Avenue

Enjoy a long, scenic ice trail leading to a large skating surface within the park. Skate rentals are available on-site.

IceWay and Ice Surface Hours: 10am-10pm

Access to the Rundle Park shinny ice surface is available via skate-in access only, located at the end of the Rundle IceWay.

Safety Alert: For the safety of all users, shinny is strictly prohibited on the IceWay. Sticks and pucks may only be used within the designated Shinny Ice area.

Winter Windbreak Comfort Nodes are available at Rundle Park and Victoria Park, conveniently located next to the IceWays. These outdoor spaces are designed for visitor comfort, featuring south-facing seating, a fire pit, and wooden panels to block prevailing winds, offering a comfortable spot for a break.

Note: In partnership with the City of Edmonton, the Edmonton Speed Skating Association has exclusive use of the skating oval on: Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-9pm. During these hours, the skating oval is closed to the public. Public skaters may still use the IceWay, but they are not permitted to cross the closed oval surface.

City-operated ice surfaces in the river valley parks, district parks and at City Hall are maintained and monitored daily.

  • Ice surfaces will be closed if conditions are unsafe for users
  • Please keep off closed ice surfaces and obey all posted signage
  • Your safety is our concern but your responsibility is to use ice surfaces at your own risk and be safe
    • Sticks, balls and pucks are not permitted outside of designated scheduled times in shinny and hockey-specific areas
    • Pets are not permitted on ice surfaces
