Construction Update - Spring 2019

Construction in Santa Rosa Park will begin the week of April 23 and will continue throughout the summer. The project consists of upgrades to the park including the addition of new playground equipment. The City has worked with the Montrose Community League on these plans and thanks them for their participation.

Santa Rosa Park is located between 120 Avenue and 121 Avenue, and between 67 Street and 69 Street. The upgrades are part of the Neighbourhood Renewal program for the Montrose neighbourhood.

The City thanks residents and park users for their patience as we make these improvements. Work should be completed in fall 2019.

Construction on the Montrose-Newton shared-use path is also scheduled for 2019. The What We Heard document developed during planning and design summarizes the public engagement and decision-making process for this project.

About the Program

Neighbourhood reconstruction is a type of neighbourhood renewal that involves road reconstruction and repaving, as well as replacement of streetlights and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter. Alley renewal is not part of neighbourhood reconstruction.

It also includes the opportunity for two local improvements, sidewalk renewal and decorative streetlights.

A series of public open houses were held to give residents the opportunity to view the design plans and discuss details with the project team.
