To improve efficiency, ETS adjusts bus routes five times per year in February, April, June, September and December. These changes are made to accommodate typical shifts in ridership demand and in response to customer feedback.
On Sunday June 27, bus frequency changes, schedule adjustments and trip cancellations were implemented on several bus routes to reflect typical ridership patterns during the summer, and to improve service efficiency, reliability and connections.
Please note that some trips and/or bus frequencies will be restored in September.
In response to feedback from customers about the bus routes launched on April 25, 2021, ETS is making several service adjustments this summer, and will continue to monitor and determine future adjustments as needed. Several adjustments were implemented on June 27, including:
Route 717 - moving the timing point to another bus stop to avoid partially blocking a driveway in Windermere.
Route 52 schedule adjustment to shorten layover on St. Albert Trail.
Route 111 map change around Westmount.
Offset schedules for some routes sharing a common corridor to provide better service. Example corridors include 137 Ave and 28 Ave. ETS is reviewing other corridors throughout the summer and fall to determine where additional schedule offsets could be implemented in 2022.
Morning and evening trips adjusted on multiple routes to make weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules more consistent.
On Canada Day, Thursday July 1, buses operated on regular Sunday schedules, with some additional service for the fireworks celebration. ETS provided service to the fireworks on Routes 523 and 701 and from the fireworks on Routes 2, 8, 523 and 701.
Route 994 to the Edmonton Valley Zoo began weekday service on Thursday July 1. Shuttle buses run from West Edmonton Mall Transit Centre to 133 Street and Buena Vista Road.
Fall service changes:
Based on customer feedback, more adjustments will be made effective August 29, including:
Route 54 - adding service between Northgate and Clareview on 137 Ave on Saturday morning, Saturday evening, and Sunday morning
Route 127 - adding Sunday service between Northgate and Kensington Crossing
Route 512 - extending south from 23 Ave to 21 Ave to improve coverage in South Edmonton Common
Route 523 - extending south from 34 Ave to 31 Ave similar to the old Route 70
Early morning trips will be added to Routes 1, 2, 7, 54, 109, 118, 123, 140X, 509, 514, 703, 717, and 904 based on rider feedback to help accommodate people who work early mornings
