Proposed rezoning and plan amendments for 6865 Ad Astra Boulevard NW allowing for future commercial development.

A planning application (map) has been received to rezone a property at 6865 Ad Astra Boulevard NW. The site is located east of Castle Downs Road NW and south of Ad Astra Boulevard NW in the Griesbach neighbourhood.  

The application is to rezone the site from Neighbourhood Convenience Commercial Zone (CNC) to Low Intensity Business Zone (CB1).

The application also proposes amending the Griesbach Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP) and would amend the Special Area Griesbach Overlay (Section 940 of Bylaw 12800).

Rezoning and Plan Amendment Details

The purpose of the rezoning and plan amendment is to allow for a greater range of low intensity commercial, office, and service uses.

The additional permitted uses allowed under the rezoning includes:

  • Bars and Neighbourhood Pubs
  • Business Support Services
  • Commercial Schools
  • Equipment Rentals
  • General Retail Stores
  • Household Repair Services
  • Minor Amusement Establishments
  • Public Libraries and Cultural Exhibits
  • Restaurants
  • Veterinary Services

The list of permitted uses is not comprehensive.

The site is envisioned to be a convenient place for passers-by and area residents to access commercial services.

The applicant’s current design allows for commercial uses on the ground floor and a daycare facility on the second floor.

The site will also be along the planned corridor of the future Metro Northwest LRT Line.
