Maintenance

Once Final Grade Approval has been issued, it is the homeowner's responsibility to maintain the surface grades in perpetuity. The City of Edmonton may at any time, require maintenance or enforcement of repairs on the lot grading if alterations or settlements result in lot grading problems.

The following pictures illustrate the surface gradings which require maintenance:

Enforcement

Enforcement OfficerReports, letters or notices will be used to convey notification of impending enforcement to the property owner, builder, or developer. Subsequent fines may then be imposed for the properties that do not comply with the Drainage Bylaw , or the Lot Grading Guidelines. In most cases, notification is sent to the current registered property owner.

For areas developed before 1989, please refer to Lot Grading Issues on how to deal with surface runoff problems.
