View 4, Scheme 3 of 100 Street Pedestrian Bridge

Where the energy of downtown Edmonton meets the vibrancy of the river valley. The preliminary design was completed in early 2023.

Project Update - June 2023

The preliminary design of the suspended bridge was completed in the spring of 2023. During the preliminary design phase structural feasibility, architectural details and landscape elements of the bridge were considered, as well as construction phasing and delivery.

During the 2023-2026 Capital Budget deliberations, funding was not provided for the delivery of the 100 Street Pedestrian Bridge. There is currently no timeline for Detailed Design or Construction of the bridge.

The City makes decisions using a combination of policy and program information, technical requirements, public engagement input and capital funding.

About the Project

A new iconic bridge will create a destination landmark in the city skyline. It will provide a safe and continuous link over McDougall Hill Road and along the edge of downtown. Positioned between MacDonald Drive and the Funicular, the latest signature bridge will provide a critical connection for pedestrians and cyclists over McDougall Hill Road. It will also create public access to some of the best views of the river valley and become a new downtown gathering space that supports year-round use and operations.
