This Working Group of community members and City staff was tasked with creating organizational foundations that inspire, support and guide effective public engagement.  A new vision for public engagement was created, supported by a new  policy with accompanying procedure to guide the public engagement work of City staff.  This Working Group also helped pull together a new City of Edmonton public engagement framework.

Vision, Policy and Framework Member Profiles

"Public engagement means inviting community members to be part of an ongoing, active process."
"Can I help solve this problem or am I going to be a protestor? How we answer that question can make such a difference in how we build our city."
"Community is a physical location, but it's also a sense of belonging."
"Municipal policies — even seemingly unrelated ones — can have a direct impact on the health of citizenry."
"Bring into the mix different cultures, different ethnicities and the same old engagement processes will not give us what we want."
