About the Project
Roadways and water lines at Edmonton Cemetery were identified by Lifecycle Management as needing renewal. These assets were near the end of their lifecycle and renewal work is part of the overall City plan to maintain City assets for public use.
The roads have been renewed by resurfacing and repaving sections depending on their current state.
A new waterline has been installed to replace the existing line. The alignment and locations of the hose bibs are in the same general area as the existing ones.
The project also replaced the walking trail in the northeast section of the cemetery. Previously it was a gravel pathway and it has been upgraded to concrete to be consistent with the existing path.
The City of Edmonton acknowledges this is a sensitive site and we took great care while working in the cemetery. We worked closely with those who manage the site and no interred remains needed to be relocated as a result of the work.
This work began in May 2023 and took 6 months.
