The City of Edmonton and our partners are launching a new year of Front Yards in Bloom - a beloved tradition for gardeners, yard enthusiasts and community members. This program helps strengthen Edmonton’s community spirit and beautify our city.
A Front Yard in Bloom is a yard that showcases the best of nature, along with some human ingenuity! Get creative with your yard and bring some seasonal beauty to your community.
No front yard? Get creative with your balcony space! Balconies in Bloom opens up design possibilities and allows you to also nominate your own space.
2022 is proclaimed as Canada’s Year of the Garden! This is an invitation to celebrate Canada’s rich horticulture and garden heritage, celebrate today’s vibrant garden culture and create legacies for a sustainable future.
Even without a green thumb or space to decorate, everyone is still able to participate in Front Yards in Bloom!
Nominate a Front Yard in Bloom, or a balcony, garden or tiny yard. Nominations will be accepted from May 20 to July 5, 2022.
Volunteer with Front Yards in Bloom! Help make someone's day, and help to bring your community together. Volunteers will deliver nominees their signs and see their pride in their yards!

Remember Front Yards in Bloom has a category dedicated to beautiful, blooming balconies!
Many people are beginning to grow edible vegetable and fruit gardens. Learn more about how to get started with some of our partner’s links below. You can also help by nominating someone’s edible garden in your neighbourhood!
All photos submitted for a Front Yards in Bloom Award will be uploaded to the City of Edmonton on Facebook for public voting. Interested Edmontonians can vote for their favourite photo in each category by “liking” it. For those who do not have a Facebook account, voting can be done by filling out the voting form for each category.
The photo in each category that receives the most “likes”, including email votes, will win their designated category. Winners will receive a Front Yards in Bloom Award certificate from the Edmonton in Bloom Initiative. A maximum of 18 awards will be given. Photos of the 18 finalists will be posted on this page when available.
Voting will be open on the following dates on the City of Edmonton on Facebook:
