The City assesses applications based on a simple evaluation process, and all applicants will be contacted with a grant decision.
Decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
As a condition of receiving upfront funds, successful applicants are required to track the impact of their transition from single-use items to reusables in terms of:
Reporting for education/outreach activities will focus on the number of businesses engaged and follow up actions taken by the organization.
Reporting is required both 120 days and one year after the project is approved. A link to the report form is available here.
The City may follow up with grant recipients to conduct site visits for up to one year after the project/initiative has been completed. The purpose of the site visits is to gather information on the activity or initiative’s impact. The information gathered and/or reported by the recipient may be developed into case studies published on the City’s website.
Should an applicant make false representations or otherwise fail to meet the terms of their funding agreement or any of the requirements of the grant to the City’s satisfaction, they may be subject to fund repayment. The applicant may also be ineligible for future funding or other procurement with the City of Edmonton until the outstanding dispute has been resolved.
The grant will enable organizations and the City to gather information related to the impact of replacing SUI with reusable items and foster long-term changes in behaviour that result in single-use item waste reduction.
