To meet the requirements of the Alberta Fire Code 2014, Sentence 220.127.116.11.(1), protection of adjacent properties during construction must be considered. The options listed are based on the assumption that the site supervisor has implemented fire prevention initiatives to reduce the risk of fire. A Fire Safety Codes Officer may visit the construction site to evaluate the method of protection of adjacent properties.
The owner, developer or contractor responsible for a construction or demolition site is required to develop a Fire Safety Plan acceptable to a Safety Codes Officer - Fire, as mandated in the Alberta Fire Code 2014.
It is required that you submit your completed fire safety plan to the City of Edmonton Development Services Branch at the time of commercial building permit application.
