The beginning of the summer season signals the start of Seniors on the Go, a summer program offered each year by ETS that is designed to familiarize seniors with their public transit options to help them feel comfortable, confident, and safe using public transit. The commencement of the 2017 program season will also be welcoming exciting changes, including a new "Transit Tech Tools" session.
Senior’s groups and organizations that have reasonable access to public transit service and can travel independently are invited to participate in a free hands-on learning session with ETS to learn how to plan trips and travel to destinations in their vicinity by taking a sample trip on transit to a local destination.
With possible destinations ranging from libraries and shopping centers to exploring Edmonton landmarks and attending local festivals, our seniors are in for an educational and exciting summer.
Since the introduction of the program in 2007, this educational and interactive program has benefited more than 4,000 people through over 60 seniors residential, recreational and social sites/groups, activity centres and seniors' groups in Edmonton.
After groups have experienced the transit system first hand from their outing, participants will also have the opportunity to gain a more in-depth understanding of the transit system with our new “Transit Tech Tools” secondary sessions. These sessions will be scheduled on a separate day to help us to better understand our participants transit experiences while also showcasing the variety of technological customer tools offered by ETS, such as ETS Trip Planner and Live Bus.
