City Council approved the proposal at the June 12, 2017 Public Hearing - see items 5.1 and 5.2 on the agenda.
The City evaluated input from review departments and the public and drafted bylaw recommendations in support of the application. The recommendation was made with consideration of City policy, technical feedback, and public feedback.
Notice of Public Hearing (May 24, 2017)
Over 1,500 postcards were mailed to surrounding property owners and stakeholders to inform them that the proposal will be considered by City Council at a Public Hearing. This notice also provided information on how to register to speak at the Public Hearing.
The Public Hearing was also advertised in the Edmonton Journal on Friday May 26, 2017 and Saturday June 3, 2017.
Pop Up Information Sessions (May 24 and 25, 2017)
Two informal drop in information sessions were held. City staff attended to inform the public of the June 12, 2017 Public Hearing and answer questions about the proposal. For more information, see the Public Engagement page.
Over 1,500 postcards were mailed to surrounding property owners and stakeholders to inform them of the information sessions.
Public Meeting (November 30, 2016)
A Public Open House was held to provide information and receive feedback on the application. For more information, see the Public Engagement page.
Over 3,000 postcards were mailed to surrounding residents to inform them of the Open House.
City's Notice to Property Owners and Stakeholders (June 10, 2016)
The City mailed over 1,400 postcards to surrounding property owners and stakeholders to inform them of the application and gather feedback.
Rezoning Application Received (April 25, 2016)
The application entered the City of Edmonton’s review process in April 2016.
Applicant Pre-consultation (September - December 2015)
Before a DC2 rezoning application is submitted, the applicant must consult with the public. The pre-consultation must occur for at least 21 days before an application can be submitted.
December 1, 2015: The applicant hosted a public open house to gather feedback on the proposal.
November 12, 2015: The applicant mailed notices of their proposal to property owners around the rezoning area. The notice also invited the public to an open house.
September 17, 2015: The applicant met with the Ermineskin Community League Board. The applicant gave a presentation on their proposal, answered questions, and requested feedback.
Two major technical reports were submitted to the City by the applicant in support of the application.
Traffic Impact Assessment (reviewed and approved on May 4, 2017)
This report identified:
- Projected traffic volumes on roadways serving the approved Century Park development
- Traffic control required to accommodate the projected traffic volumes
- How on-site parking requirements will be met
The City has prepared some illustrations of the key findings of this report:
- Estimated daily traffic volumes
- Estimated change in delays along corridors
- Estimated change in delays at intersections
