A petition is a way for members of the public to express an opinion to City Council and request action on a specific issue. It is a written request signed by electors of the City of Edmonton and presented to City Council.
Petitions that meet all legislative requirements defined in the Municipal Government Act (MGA) can be used to request City Council take action on a specific issue. Petitions that have not met all legislative requirements become Council correspondence.
