Fit For Fire fitness sessions have concluded for the season. Thank you to all who participated.

Please stay tuned for information on the program's return in 2020.

A high level of physical fitness is required in professional firefighting.

The Fit For Fire program provides insight, for both current and prospective recruits, into what to expect during the physical fitness assessment, Recruit Training, and an eventual career in firefighting. The bi-weekly workouts include cardiovascular, endurance, and strength conditioning, with exercises ranging from long-distance runs to bootcamp-style training sessions throughout Kinsmen Park.

Fit For Fire Fitness Sessions

Every Second Tuesday
Time: 6:30pm-8pm
LocationKinsmen Park

Join Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) every second Tuesday from 6:30pm-8pm during the summer months. Participants are asked to meet outside the front entrance of the Kinsmen Sports Center (9100 Walterdale Hill, Edmonton, AB T6E2V3) before being guided to the designated workout location. Watch for instructors in EFRS clothing if you are running late.

The Fit For Fire program is an opportunity to work out alongside EFRS members, ask questions, and meet others who are interested in the firefighting profession. These sessions will give participants a chance to gauge their physical readiness prior to applying and beginning the Recruit Training Process.

Although the program targets current and potential recruits, all are welcome to participate as exercises can be scalable to meet varying fitness levels.
