A high level of physical fitness is required in professional firefighting.

The Fit For Fire program provides insight, for both current and prospective recruits, into what to expect during the physical fitness assessment, recruit training, and an eventual career in firefighting.

It is an opportunity to work out alongside members of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, ask questions and meet others who are interested in the firefighting profession.

The program offers bi-weekly workouts which include cardiovascular, endurance, and strength conditioning, with exercises ranging from long-distance runs to bootcamp style training sessions. These sessions will give participants a chance to gauge their physical readiness prior to applying and beginning the Recruit Training process.
