Edmonton Fire Rescue Services is committed to physical fitness as a lifestyle. Although you have been tested by an agency external to the service, you will be expected to undergo peer fitness testing to ensure that you have maintained a fitness standard consistent with firefighter needs.
This testing will be done under the direction of the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services Health and Wellness Coordinator using peer fitness testers such as firefighters. The test will include:
- Body composition
- Muscular strength
- Muscular endurance
- Aerobic power
If your performance does not meet base firefighter requirements, you may be retested by an independent external agency or excluded from the hiring process.
Note: The firefighter recruitment process is subject to change.
