Arbor Day

Edmonton’s Arbor Day is celebrated each year on the Friday prior to May 10.

The City of Edmonton’s Forestry section has created a very special day to learn about trees. It’s a "tree-rrific" day of learning and fun for grade one students.

Bark In The Park

Bark in the Park is back for its third year! Join us for tree planting, weed pulling and education on native and noxious species in the area. You can play a part in keeping our parks fun and safe for all. Bring your pups! You and your best friend are welcome to join the Off-Leash Ambassadors and explore the exhibitor tables.

Root for Trees Fest

Join Root for Trees for our biggest, most tree-rrific family event of the year. Children who are 12 and under can register for the fun Tree-athlon - the only race of its kind in Edmonton! Take part in some fun activities and help us plant 1000 native trees, shrubs and wildflowers. There will be games, educational exhibitors, tree giveaways, crafts and much more!

Pollinator Planting

Join Root for Trees and help local native pollinators. Together, we hope to turn the naturalized area in front of the Terwillegar Recreation Centre into a haven for bees and other pollinating insects. Come plant some local wildflowers, and learn more about bugs and the wildlife that rely on native plants. We’ll also be giving away some wildflowers for you to plant in your own garden!

Family Nature Night

Join Root for Trees and Nature Kids by Nature Alberta at Family Nature Night to learn more about the plants in your neighbourhoods and forests. The mission of Family Nature Nights is to promote positive experiences for youth and their families with nature, science and urban wilderness. Programming is designed for 4-12 year-olds, but nature lovers of all ages are welcome.

Registration for Family Nature Nights takes place at the event. Please arrive at 6pm to register. Activities begin at 6:30pm.

Food Forest

Root for Trees is expanding our Food Forest at Cloverdale Hill. Come check out which native fruit-bearing trees and shrubs grow in Edmonton. You might be surprised at the amount of biodiversity we have in our own backyard! Join us and help plant these life-sustaining plants for a source of food for years to come. The wildlife will thank you!

National Tree Day

Celebrate National Tree Day with Edmonton's volunteer planting program, Root for Trees! Enjoy the great outdoors and learn about the many benefits of Edmonton’s urban forest. This unique day will be filled with activities for all ages including tree planting, plant giveaways, forestry demonstrations, interactive games and much more!
