June celebrates National Indigenous History Month to honour the history, heritage and diversity of Indigenous Peoples. Root for Trees encourages Edmontonians to join us in celebrating Indigenous culture and ‘connecting with our roots’ by learning about how Indigenous knowledge connects with nature, including the native species we plant on Treaty Six Territory. Root for Trees will hold a tree planting event, along with the partnering of various Indigenous-led activities in our celebration.
Root for Trees and Integrated Pest Management have partnered with the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute to provide Edmontonians with the opportunity to indulge in nature, while contributing to local citizen science and environmental awareness.
