Ribbon of Green Online Open House

Together, let’s protect, connect and enhance Edmonton’s Ribbon of Green.

The Ribbon of Green (2018) will consolidate previous Ribbon of Green plans and documents (1990 and 1992), plus develop strategic guidance for the southwest and northeast corners of the river valley and ravine system that was not previously undertaken.

This project will result in one comprehensive easy-to-use Ribbon of Green plan.

Engagement Process

Public Engagement Plan

Public Engagement Plan

It is important that the public, stakeholders and Indigenous communities be involved in shaping the Ribbon of Green project to create a stronger, more relevant and effective plan. This Public Engagement and Communications Plan outlines how to involve and gather their insight and feedback to inform the project.

Ribbon of Green Timeline

Thank you for participating in the first phase of engagement during March and April 2017. Your input helped to inform the vision and priorities for the two study areas, as well as the Land Management Classifications, which guide protection and permitted use in each area.

The next stage of public engagement “Shape Our Ribbon” will take place in November 2017.

Phase 2: "Shape Our Ribbon"

Upcoming Public Engagement

In the second phase of engagement, you’ll have a chance to:

  • Review the draft vision and priorities for each study area
  • Help shape and refine the Land Management Classifications and policy directions
  • Provide feedback on what you would like to see in the proposed amenity nodes (these are areas that present opportunities for a higher level of activity)

Phase 1: Share Your Ideas

Previous Public Engagement

Thanks for joining the conversation and talking river valley and ravines.

We received valuable input on Edmonton’s River Valley and Ravine System and your responses will help to inform the policy direction for the two study areas.

We engaged with the public on:

The project context, including the previous Ribbon of Green plans and how this project relates to other City initiatives and policies.

The southwest and northeast portions of the river valley and ravine system, by asking citizens for their insights on these areas, how they would like to use these areas in the future, and their overall vision for these portions of Edmonton’s river valley and ravine system.
