The City of Edmonton’s strategic vision and plans all work together and direct the growth and evolution of Edmonton.

Every day the City connects Edmontonians to their community and to what matters to them. We care about the impact of our actions — we serve those here today and those who will come after us.

Strategic Planning Framework

The Strategic Planning Framework is a network of 6 elements that guide how our City works to enable a better life for Edmontonians:

  1. Connect Edmonton sets our direction
  2. The City Plan identifies our choices
  3. The Corporate Business Plan describes our actions
  4. The budget allocates our resources
  5. Enterprise Performance Management monitors our performance
  6. Enterprise Risk Management is our assurance

Broadly, these 6 elements answer these 3 questions: Where are we now? Where are we going? How will we get there?

About community direction, aspiration and inspiration. This is Edmonton's highest-level plan and it's about making transformational change.

Our budget maps out how tax dollars and other funding will be invested to provide the programs, services and construction projects that matter to Edmontonians.

Describes the choices we will make to become a healthy, urban and climate-resilient city of 2 million people that supports a prosperous region.

Our results-based approach to managing our performance and achieving results Edmontonians care about.

Maps out how we will advance ConnectEdmonton and The City Plan goals over the next 4 years.

Identifies risks to the City to support effective decision-making, strengthen resilience and create opportunities to innovate the way we deliver services.
